Brand, Build, and Beyond: The Full Story of Family Friends Plumbing

A new Arlington plumbing company needed everything—brand identity, custom characters, a website, and ongoing managed services. Here is how I built it from scratch.

TL;DR

Family Friends Plumbing is a residential plumbing specialist serving Arlington and the DFW Metroplex. I built their brand from the ground up—custom mascot characters, a bold color palette, a full website—and now manage their hosting and ongoing tech. The result is a presence that actually looks and feels like the business they set out to build.

Parker Strode

Founder & Systems Engineer

A plumbing emergency doesn't wait for business hours. When a pipe bursts at 2 a.m., homeowners in Arlington and across DFW need someone they can actually reach—fast. Family Friends Plumbing was built around that premise: 24/7 residential plumbing service, personalized attention, and a genuine commitment to treating every home like their own.

When they came to me, they had the team, the skills, and the vision. What they needed was everything else—a brand identity, a website, and a tech partner to keep it all running. I built it from scratch.

The Business

Family Friends Plumbing is a locally-owned, residential-only plumbing company serving the Arlington and DFW Metroplex. Their focus is intentional: homes, not industrial sites. Leak detection, water heater installation, camera inspections, sewer repair, fixture work, and 24/7 emergency calls—all for homeowners who need someone they can trust.

The name says it all. This isn't a corporate plumbing franchise. It's a neighborhood service business where the relationship matters as much as the repair. That core identity shaped every decision I made on the brand.

The Starting Point

Family Friends Plumbing launched without an established brand presence. No logo system, no color palette, no web presence to speak of. For a new business trying to compete with established local plumbers and national franchises showing up in search results, that's a steep climb.

The challenge wasn't just "make a website." It was: what does this brand actually look and feel like? What makes a homeowner at midnight choose Family Friends over the next result?

Brand Identity: Bold, Friendly, Memorable

The core positioning—family, friendliness, approachability—pointed toward a brand that felt warm but not timid. Plumbing is a trade where trust is earned fast or not at all. The brand needed to communicate competence and personality at the same time.

The Color Palette

I went bold. The palette centers on a vivid lime green against dark backgrounds, with purple and yellow-gold as supporting accents. These aren't safe colors. They're the kind of colors that stop a scroll, stand out in a search result thumbnail, and stick in memory after a quick website visit at midnight.

For a business that needed to differentiate from the sea of blue-and-white plumbing companies in DFW, the palette does real work.

The Characters

This is where the brand gets its personality. I created a cast of illustrated animal mascots—a squirrel, a hippo, and an alligator—each with their own character and role in the visual system. They're not clip art. They're a deliberate choice to humanize the brand and give Family Friends Plumbing something no competitor in their market has: actual visual identity.

The characters reinforce the "family-friendly" positioning in a way that text alone can't. They're approachable without being childish. They're memorable without being gimmicky. And they give the brand a visual anchor that works across the website, social, and any future marketing materials.

The Website

With the brand locked in, I built the site. Fast load times, mobile-first layout, and a structure designed around the decisions a homeowner actually makes when they land on a plumber's website at 11 p.m.: Can I trust these people? Do they cover my area? How do I reach them right now?

Service pages are clear and specific—leak detection, water heaters, sewer work, emergency calls. The 24/7 availability is front and center. Contact options are accessible without digging. The characters and color palette carry through consistently so every page feels like the same brand.

Managed Hosting and Ongoing Services

Building the site was step one. Keeping it solid is the ongoing work.

Family Friends Plumbing is on my managed hosting and services agreement, which means:

  • Uptime monitoring — If the site goes down, I know before they do. For a business where a homeowner might be searching at 2 a.m. after a pipe burst, availability isn't optional.
  • Performance maintenance — Site speed is a ranking factor and a conversion factor. Fast pages stay fast with ongoing attention.
  • SSL and security — Certificates managed and auto-renewed, software kept current, security gaps closed before they're exploited.
  • Local SEO foundation — Proper schema markup for local business and service pages, clean site structure, and technical signals that help Google understand what Family Friends Plumbing does and where they serve.

The owner runs a plumbing crew. They shouldn't also have to think about whether their SSL cert expired or whether their site is loading in 800ms or 4 seconds. That's what I'm here for.

What the Full Partnership Looks Like

Most of the clients I work best with are businesses where the owner is genuinely expert at their trade and has no interest in becoming an expert at web infrastructure. The division of labor is clean: they do what they're great at, I handle the digital side end-to-end.

For Family Friends Plumbing, that means a brand that actually reflects who they are, a website that performs and converts, and a managed services agreement that keeps everything running—with a real person available when something comes up.

A Note on New Business Launches

Getting a brand right at launch matters more than most new business owners realize. First impressions compound. A homeowner who finds you in search, lands on a slow or visually generic site, and bounces—that's not just a lost lead, it's a lost impression that's hard to recover from.

The businesses that invest in their brand and digital presence from day one don't have to undo damage later. They build credibility while they're still building the business.

Family Friends Plumbing did it right.
